Partnerships Officer

Job Purpose
To implement and fundraising programmes to cultivate and retain existing and prospective MSF HK individual major donors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Donor Cultivation: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective major donors through personalized communication, meetings, and events. Understand their philanthropic interests and develop strategies to engage them effectively.
  • Donor Solicitation: Help to develop compelling and persuasive solicitation strategies tailored to each donor's interests and capacity for giving to raise the targeted amount of donation income. Clearly articulate the impact of their support and present funding opportunities that align with their philanthropic goals.
  • Stewardship: Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgement of major gifts and ongoing stewardship of donors. Provide regular updates on how their contributions are making a difference and maintain open lines of communication to nurture long-term relationships.
  • Prospect Research: Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify new major gift prospects. Utilize various resources and networks to gather information about potential donors and their giving history.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders, peers in MSF HK, the MSF movement and third-party service providers, in support for timely implementation of fundraising programmes as set out in the annual plan.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as managing donor databases, preparing donor correspondence and maintaining accurate records of donor interactions. Support the team with general administrative duties as needed.
  • To participate in relevant working groups in the MSF movement for knowledge sharing and acquiring as the Philanthropy Manager sees fit.


The Ideal Candidate

  • University graduate.
  • Have a minimum 3 years’ experience in customer service or administration.
  • Experience working in an NGO is distinct advantage.
  • Evidence a strong interest in humanitarian affairs and a commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières.
  • Have strong project management skills and be detailed-orientated.
  • Native Chinese speaking.
  • Have excellent proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and spoken).
  • Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, be able to multi-task, and be willing to assist with tasks outside direct job description.
  • Be willing to occasionally work during weekends or special events.
  • Have a proactive personality and be spontaneous in initiating suggestions or actions to achieve objectives and improve donor relations.
  • Have strong customer service skills, be comfortable with public speaking and have a friendly, approachable demeanor.

MSF Hong Kong will offer a remuneration package of 12 months basic salary benchmarked in INGO with no discretionary bonus.
