A typical earthquake patient:

Leorne RAYMOND, victim of the January earthquake. She has broken her left thigh bone, left leg bones and a broken right ankle. She was put on tibial traction for the treatment of her femoral fracture, an external fixator for her leg fracture. Her femoral fracture finally healed and united. Her leg bone had an operation 3 weeks ago for the non-united left leg bones with the external fixator taken out. She is now put on a walking plaster cast on the left leg. Then finally she has just finished her operation for her broken right ankle problem few days ago which required a temporary external fixator to stabilize the repair. Before this operation, her ankle was at tip-toe position that means she can not put her foot flat on the ground.

So 5 months after the disaster, she is still under medical care. We don’t know how long it takes for her satisfactory recovery, of course with lots of physiotherapy even with this success operations. Actually, we have many similar patients and there are some even untreated after the initial injury 5 months ago and are now turning up. So for the world, the Haiti problem is already out of their focuses, but in real fact, there are more humanitarian actions needed here. What a pity for this nation’s people!
