Médecins Sans Frontières first worked in Germany in 2017, to introduce a system of peer counselling for asylum seekers.

This pilot project was subsequently handed over to St Josef hospital in Schweinfurt, Bavaria.

Our teams again worked with asylum seekers and vulnerable groups during our response to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic in April and May 2020. We provided health education and psychological support to quarantined asylum seekers in Saxony-Anhalt state, and advised groups working with vulnerable people on infection prevention and control measures across parts of the country.
