Job Purpose
The Editorial & Publishing Manager oversees the editorial process, ensuring the production of high-quality content that bridges our social mission with audiences and fosters strong, sustainable impacts. The manager serves as a key resource, providing guidance and support to various departments to ensure the creation and distribution of impactful content that aligns with our brand identities and adheres to editorial guidelines and standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead in the formulation of the editorial content and publishing strategy with well-defined deliverables, KPIs and dissemination plan and ensure the quality of public communications outputs adhere to MSF editorial style guide
- Propose sound and impactful annual editorial & publishing plan to achieve the overall Communications Department directive and organizational goals
- Deliver editorial & publishing programme across all our channels with deep focus on emerging platforms and efficient approaches
- Manage dissemination plans to internal and external channels (website, social media, community and partners platforms) by working with focal points from the team and function
- Serving as the primary editorial gatekeeper for editorial and public communications content to ensure quality, clarity, representation, authenticity, and consistency as well as mitigating risks and maintaining coherent MSF identity
- Lead in process streamlining across the office for gatekeeping by developing and maintaining style guide and branding guidelines, briefing editorial freelancers across the office
- Assess impact metrics and stay updated on trends and adjusts the editorial content strategy, deliverables as needed and accordingly.
- Supervise, coach and handle the relevant human resources management of the Editorial Content team member/s (e.g. Publications Coordinator (Sr Officer), freelancers, and interns
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, translation, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in editorial management, publishing, public communications, or a related field; a minimum of 2 years of managerial experience
- Excellent verbal and writing skills in both Chinese and English, with demonstrated experience in translation, copywriting, or proofreading
- Strong understanding and knowledge of international affairs
- Willing to work outside regular office hours when necessary Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to cultivate influential relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Capable of working in a culturally diverse environment.
