Job Purpose
Lead in the expansion and cultivation of high net-worth donors’ network. Provide high quality stewardship, engagement and communications to develop and maintain loyalty of donors, aiming to achieve fundraising target and increase contribution and trust.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Philanthropy Manager to develop and implement fundraising and engagement strategic plan; and support annual budget planning and management of the income and expense in order to support the MSF operational needs.
- Co-manage top level one-to-one donors in major gift donor pool.
- To provide donor care and solicit funding from individual, corporate and foundation major donors through direct mails, proposals, emails, phone calls, meetings and reports as per the major gifts programme.
- To organize and facilitate philanthropy talks and represent MSF in public speaking platforms.
- To research, identify and solicit support from potential donors, and to network to identify prospective donors.
- To provide professional Chinese & English copywriting and translation.
- Support the development and implementation of legacy programme strategies that maximize legacy giving potential through effective promotion, engagement and lead generation tactics.
- Responsible for awareness raising of the MSF Legacy programmes to potential segments and to engage with key stakeholders from legal, insurance and relevant sectors.
- To manage and ensure adherence to legal requirements when processing a legacy donation. In some cases, communication with pro-bono legal advisor
- Preparation of documents required to actualize legacy donations such as Articles of Association, Board meeting minutes etc.
- Handling of all legal processes in relation to legacy donations including handling of Letter of Probates, communication of executors of wills etc,
- Ensure the donation received in compliance with the guidelines and policies of MSF, audit requirement of MSF-HK, as well as the legal requirements of Hong Kong
- To manage donations to ensure they are complied with MSF HK’s Gift Acceptance Policy and donation does not originate from MSF blacklisted industry or sanctions list
- To perform the due diligence process on major donations to assess for reputational risk including desktop research and use of risk assessment and intelligence platforms such as Dow Jones Risk Centre
- Act on behalf in the absence of the Philanthropy Manager when required: manage the fundraising programmes, support and supervise officers and assistants as requested by the Philanthropy Manager.
- Administer training on donor relationship management
- To participate in office working groups of fundraising events, e.g. Orienteering Competition and MSF Day, when the Philanthropy Manager sees fit.
- To participate in relevant working groups in the MSF movement (Major Donor, Corporate Fundraising, Legacy and Prospect Research Working Groups) for knowledge sharing as the Philanthropy Manager sees fit.
- To liaise directly with the Operation Centre desks to attain timely field data and information for use in donor pitching and to report back to desk on the status of cultivation.
- To engage and manage external third-party providers such as telemarking agency support to execute programmes
The Ideal Candidate
- University graduate.
- Have a minimum 3 years’ experience in in one-to-one sales, investors’ relations, luxury marketing or fundraising.
- Experience working in an NGO is distinct advantage.
- Evidence of strong interest in humanitarian affairs and a commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières.
- Excellent presentation skills with proven experience of public speaking or one to one pitching.
- Strong customer service and relationship management experience.
- Strong ability to manage multiple ongoing projects with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and targets.
- Ability to contribute to strategic planning and budget setting
- Proven experience in events planning, project management or handling legal procedures in relation to estate planning and will execution is a plus.
- IT skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, able to source and incorporate other new IT applications
- Ability to delegate tasks, coach and manage junior staff members.
- Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, be able to multi-task, and be willing to assist with tasks outside direct job description.
- Native Chinese speaking.
- Excellent command of English and Chinese/Cantonese (both written and spoken). Proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
- Be willing to occasionally work during weekends or public holidays for special events.
- Work experience in NGO or humanitarian/ aid agency, or participate in volunteering work is preferable.
