General Logistician

Our supply logisticians make sure our projects are equipped with everything that's needed to deal with an emergency.

From collecting supplies off an MSF plane on a makeshift runway, to working with the medical team to forecast medical supplies months in advance, the work of a supply logistician is far reaching and vital to the whole team.

As a supply logistician, you will analyse in-country contexts in order to design, plan and set up a relevant supply chain, build the capacity of local staff and work closely with all departments to ensure accurate forecasting and emergency preparedness.

Responsibilities : 

  • Monitoring the implementation of logistics/technical/supply activities ensuring compliance to MSF standards, protocols and procedures.
  • In close collaboration with the HR department, participating in the recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing and performance evaluation of the logistics staff in the mission in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required. Implementing all these related activities to the logistics staff under his/her direct responsibility.
  • Ensuring technical reference for all logistics/technical issues in the mission and provides coaching to logistics staff.
  • Ensuring installation and maintenance of functional office space(s) and lodging facilities in an adequate living condition as well as having all the equipment required.
  • Monitoring and implementing the technical aspects of the risk reduction rules: transport, communication, protection, identification and preparation of the technical aspects of the mission security plan, evacuation plan and other contingency plans.
  • Ensuring communication means in the mission (including numbers frequencies), allowing permanent communication between capital, projects, bases and HQ. Ensures all staff in the mission benefits from proper training on how to use communications equipment available in the Mission (e.g. satellite phones, HF/VHF radios, computers, etc.)
     

Requirements : 

  • Two years of relevant experience showing a capacity to organize and maintain a multidisciplinary activity
  • Any type of training, diploma / academic level will be considered
  • Solution oriented
  • Agile, responsive and adaptation capacity
  • NGO experience is an asset (in developing countries)
  • Willingness to work in unstable environments
  • Availability of at least 6 - 12 months per assignment
