HKD 240  Vaccinates 100 Children

Potentially deadly and highly contagious, there is no cure for measles, so prevention is the best measure. Measles is especially dangerous in crowded displacement camps and impoverished areas and mostly strikes children under the age of five. Symptoms of measles can include fever and skin rash that can lead to complications like ear infections, pneumonia and impaired mental development. Yet, in many areas where MSF works, children do not routinely receive vaccinations for measles.

Measles vaccinations are a key part of MSF’s preventive health measures for children. The measles vaccine itself is inexpensive and effective for the majority of children who receive it. Measles vaccination campaigns are often carried out massively for hundreds or thousands of children at once.
