Médecins Sans Frontières teams are ready to provide emergency care to people affected by floods, after   tropical storm Ketsana hit the northern Philippines on Saturday, causing the death of 240 people and displacing 450,000 according to official reports.

A team of medical and logistical staff are currently assessing the situation in Rizal, one of the most affected areas (close to the capital Manila) to decide how MSF can best provide support.

MSF is currently running a project on Mindanao Island, in the south of the country, providing medical care to displaced people.
