Interim Psychological Support Specialist (4 to 5 months’ contract)
Job Purpose
1. The jobholder will plan, coordinate, and carry out psychosocial and duty of care services and initiatives in the region connected to our workforce, with a primary focus on humanitarian field workers, in order to fulfil MSF's strategic objective.
2. Principal Accountabilities:
- Serving as the Psychosocial Focal Point (PFP) for a regional pool of MSF Field workers under the auspices of MSF HK.
- Creating and implementing psychosocial and well-being projects and activities for our field personnel, as well as proactive communication and follow-up.
- Providing support for psychosocial activities, initiatives, and interventions in partnership with other MSF entities in the region.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for L&D activities of MSF HK offices
- Serving as the primary point of contact and intern coordinator for MSF HK's regional FHR department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Field Workers Psycho-social support：
- As the Psychosocial Focal Point (PFP), he/she offers the psychosocial briefing in preparation of mission the field worker, provides the systematic emotional debriefing to all field workers returning from mission assignments, and organizes the referral to external psychologists in case of need of psychological follow-up.
- Be available for field support sessions with field workers via Skype/MS Teams/WhatsApp.
- Establish, validate, and sustain therapist/psychologist networks throughout the MSF HK region, which includes Asian countries and locales such as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
- Raise mental health awareness and the importance of well-being through targeted activities for both office personnel and field workers (e.g., Peer Connect, Social Media Content, etc.).
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards at all times.
- In the event of a critical incident or emergency, collaborate with the Field HR Director by providing support to the Critical Incident Team as needed.
- Data collection for all contacts/interactions with field workers, including maintaining thorough records of interviews, updating case notes reports, and filling out applicable forms. Monitor and track service utilisation rates, and provide systematic feedback.
- Create, lead, present, and/or facilitate mental health workshops, such as mental resilience and stress management.
2. Collaborations and Networking with other PSUs in the movement
- Collaborate with the psychosocial referent of Operational Center Brussels (and the psychosocial referents of the other Operational Centers) complementing and helping to improve the quality of the service provided and the support given to field workers while respecting confidentiality.
- Attend the annual psychosocial intersectional meetings and participate in trainings and other professional development activities as may be deemed necessary for the effective performance of duties.
- Attend regular clinical supervision sessions.
3. Providing assistance to MSF HK offices in the region in terms of
- Occasional internal/external speaking engagements at MSF HK-sponsored events focused on and raising awareness of staff mental health and well-being.
- Assisting the FHR recruitment process by taking part in field worker recruitment interviews at the assessment centre stage.
- Create, lead, present, and/or facilitate mental health workshops, such as mental resilience and stress management.
- Coordination and supervision of interns assisting the Field Human Resources Department.
- Support the psycho-social activities and L&D initiatives and interventions in collaboration with MSF regional entities.
- Support in terms of Research, training and validation of local psychological service providers in field programme in the SEEAP region as required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.
- Good knowledge of the different therapeutic schools.
- MSF and or humanitarian experience is highly preferable.
- Real interest in humanitarian work.
- Minimum 3-5 years postgraduate experience in counselling and/or direct clinical services.
- Experience in conducting workshops/ seminars/ and group sessions.
- Experience in stress management and conflict management.
- Experienced in supervision is an advantage.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Good command of an Asian language (e.g. Bahasa, Tagalog) is an added asset
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
