Nurse (1 Year Contract)
 

Job Purpose
Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, proto-cols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

MSF Hong Kong is developing a homeless project in Hong Kong. We aim to provide medical and mental health support to the elderly and homeless people through various platforms. 

The project team members may be required to work at night and in outreach locations, such as parks, shelters or any location as needed. 

  • Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e., perform as a nurse whenever re-quired or needed, to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience. 
  • Take the lead in providing general health needs assessment, screening, health counselling and outreaches to the targeted population and users of services. 
  • Design and carry out health-related activities and initiatives in both centre-based and outreach settings, such as health screenings, health promotion, and trainings. 
  • Participate actively in developing/adjusting medical strategies, medical-related SOPs and guide-lines for planned activities in close coordination with the MAM. 
  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
  • Coordinate and carry out care and treatments in accordance with medical prescriptions, as well as supporting during consultations, follow-ups, and other medical operations. 
  • Participating in patient (and family) health education as desired, in close partnership with Health Promoter.
  • Collaborate closely with the other team members in carrying out the scheduled tasks along with offering medical support and feedback as required. 
  • Plan, develop, and carry out health-related trainings for internal teams and external stakeholders to further develop case management capacity.
  • Make certain that effective case management (new case, follow up and outreach), data manage-ment (collect, encode and analyse), and medical stock control are in place. 
  • Ensure and contribute to efficient communication among team members with the objective to maintain the standard of work. 
  • Contribute to the upkeep of stakeholder connections and interactions.
  • When carrying out duties and tasks, respect and adhere to MSF policies and guidelines. Respect the communication line and encourage excellent bilateral interaction between the line manager and other coworkers.
  • Ensure that medical activity logs and reports are kept up-to-date and shared with the relevant line manager(s) on time. 
  • Participate actively in the procurement of medical consumables and supplies, in collaboration with the other medical team member(s) and the MAM. 
  • Engage in trainings (online or in-person) to enhance your own capacity and keep your medical knowledge and skills current.
  • As needed, provide team support and ad hoc health-related duties.

The Ideal Candidate 

  • Essential recognized nurse degree/diploma
  • Desirable Bachelor in Science of Nursing
  • Desirable 2 years of previous experience and previous experience in other NGOs
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
  • Experienced enrolled nurse will also be considered
