Clarification: MSF Remains Providing Medical Assistance in Darfur

Regarding some media reporting that Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was expelled from South Darfur, Sudan on 14 February, MSF clarifies that it is not correct and MSF continues to provide independent medical and humanitarian assistance in both North and South Darfur.

In North Darfur MSF provides primary and secondary medical aid to thousands of people in Kaguro, Dar Zaghawa, Tawila, and Shangil Tobaya - including paediatric and reproductive healthcare and counselling services.

In South Darfur, an MSF team is currently finalizing an assessment to determine the most urgent needs of hundreds of displaced families in Shaeria and is also setting up a nutrition program, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, to address serious levels of malnutrition for people affected by violence and lack of access to healthcare.

MSF has been working in Sudan since 1979, providing free-of-charge medical assistance to people suffering from the effects of armed conflict, poor access to healthcare, floods, droughts, disease outbreaks, and nutritional emergencies.
