Communications Officer

Job Purpose

The Communications Officer is responsible for the implementation of communication and media strategies to ensure high-quality media coverage and visibility, with the aim of increasing MSF's presence in both local and international media in Hong Kong.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain good media relationships and maximize positive media coverage for MSF
  • Conduct media pitching, arrange media interviews and press conferences
  • Prepare PR write-ups such as press releases and other promotional materials
  • Handle media inquiries and support in crisis management
  • Support the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • Support in writing, editing, and disseminating content for a wide range of communication channels

The Ideal Candidate

  • University degree in Journalism, Communications or related fields
  • Minimum of two years of journalistic and/or public relations experience
  • Basic knowledge, experience, and network within the local media in Hong Kong
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Proactive and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to work outside normal office hours and be on call to respond to emergencies
  • Strong commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières
