Dear friends in Hong Kong,
I woke up early again at 00:30. I was kept awake because of so many stimulating thoughts.
I have to wake up early so that I can use the computer since the power supply is cut off at six. I worked hard yesterday and returned late, nearly at midnight.
I woke early again at 1:30am and could not fall asleep any more. I don't know whether it's because of the hot temperature, the excitement or the effect of the anti-malarial, Lariam. I haven't slept well for two nights.
After some hassle getting the plane to Monrovia, Liberia following the briefing session in Paris, I finally reached this city with the other surgeon, John, from Chicago, USA.
10th September. Day off. I had been in Darfur for nearly two weeks. A sacrifice to pay for working in surroundings with a security problem was to give up freedom. I spent practically the whole day inside the compound. The sun was nice.
7th September. The sky tonight was clear enough. The new moon was shining upon us and I was finally able to see the starry sky of Darfur.
I had been already one week in Darfur.
